Cicada Molts

While geocaching in Central Park today, I ran across what appeared to be a huge bug hanging onto a tree. Upon closer observation, I noticed it was actually a cicada molt. See an example of the process. Cicadas are interesting. They look like small versions of monsters.

Here's the first one I saw.

Look beyond the label

I was just reading this article about comparing/buying brand name products and their generic alternatives.

You can save a lot of money, A LOT of money, by going with the generic. The usual concern lies in "is this a quality product?", "is it safe?", "will it work?", etc... Most times, it really doesn't matter. Yes, a food product may be better from a brand name company, but acetaminophen is acetaminophen. It's not like you have to factor in "better quality" or "freshness" with most products.

It's really interesting when you start to look at prices, and comparing ingredients. You clearly see we're generally paying for the name on the label, not the product itself. And if you're willing to be open with/about yourself, you see how we're programmed by the advertising and commercialism.
