Laws, rules, canons of faith.

There is one common thought amongst all people. That there are rules we must follow. What those rules are, is where a great deal of our differences exist.

Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, etc.. all have differing views/theories/beliefs about God and how to worship him/her.

Americans, Arabs, Africans, Indians, Aborigines, Europeans, Eskimos, etc.. all have differing views of how to society should behave and what is the "correct" or "proper" way to live.

Law-makers and law-breakers appear to have VERY differing opinions as to how their local "Laws of Man" should be followed.

One parent may raise their child following a very "touchy-feely" ideology of parenting, while another may follow the old "spare the rod, spoil the child" philosophy.

Ask a drug addict, and he'll probably say "You haven't truly experienced life, until you've been high." There are people who live every second of their life based on their belief's scriptures.

Any people don't understand how anyone could, or would even want, to live their life as a homeless person. But look at nomads and gypsies; traditionally, they aren't tied down to one piece of property, their life is almost always "on the move".

And the "rules" don't just end with things we choose.

There are physical laws that we "must" follow. I say "must" because many times, there have been things that were, not only accepted by the general populace of Earth, but by "learned", scientific minds as well. "The Earth is flat" was a concept that was thought of as a "scientific fact". What about "The Earth is the center of the Universe"? or maybe just the Solar System? No, not that either. As time goes on, and we learn new facts about the world (universe) we live in, our "absolute, true and unchangable" Laws of Physics, change.

Someday, we will be able to travel through time, someday we will meet extraterrestrial life, someday we will be truly free from death. But until the day when someone proves these to be attainable, we will believe these to be untrue, maybe even "impossible".

The real truth is, the world is what we make of it. Philosophically, spiritually and literally. If we put our differences aside, and accepted the beauty of our varied societal customs, would we be fighting as much? Who cares what you call the piece of land you're standing on, as long as we can share it.

We can change the world with a thought. Don't think so? We do it every day. Our negativity makes the world a meaner, darker, depressing place. When you're happy, the Sun shines, things are good, fortune smiles upon you. Go ahead, give it a try it.

SMILE!

Lost, on ABC

I friggin' LOVE this show! LOST

Here are a few items making the fansite rounds:

New Hanso Film? (Possible Spoiler) the logos of the various "Stations".
NOTE: Might be fake. There are a few films that have been "confirmed" as fakes.

Some upcoming episode spoilers.
Note: Not really MAJOR spoilers, but spoilers none-the-less.

ABC's Official "Lost" podcasts
Note: I've read there is a lot of extra info in these.

"Another set of numbers"?
Note: Ive seen two (maybe three) diffrent sets of "new numbers" floating around the sites.

Someone made a "wikipedia" themed site: lostpedia.com

"Dr. Marvin Candle" might be the same doctor that checked in Hurley at the mental institution. (middle of page)
Note: He does look like him, older, but looks a lot like him.

The Teddy Bear
Carried by "The Others" is VERY similar to the one carried by the little boy.

Lastly, that it "wasn't Ana Lucia that shot Shannon" board
Could this be an editing issue?

Aquaman is Cool!

Why is Aquaman automatically thought of as a joke?

Thing is, Aquaman's actually cool.

Maybe it's the orange shirt?

News: Evacuees not told they're going to Utah

This is funny. Hurricane Katrina victims, after spending a horrific time in the Superdome, were being evacuated to other states. After boarding a plane, the doors were locked, the engines started, THEN they were told where they were going. TO UTAH! Why only after they were almost on their way? Because on previous flights, evacuees refused to go, got off the plane, anything... to avoid going to Utah! HAHA! That's bad when hurrican evacuees don't want to go to your state. Damn, and I live in New York City!

Foxy Brown Goes Deaf!

I almost feel like I'm breaking news here, but this is actually four-months old.

Foxy Brown has gone deaf! She woke up one morning and realized she couldn't hear anything. (scary) She's reportedly "not saying what caused this" (no idea what that means). She's planning on having surgery soon, and says she will rap again.

One VERY scary aspect of this story is that this condition, "sensorineural hearing loss", affects 1 in 10,000. Those are really crappy odds.

eBay Buys Skype

eBay Acquires Skype Internet Telephony Company.

I ask "why?"

An acution website buys a NetPhone company? They needed to handle financial exchanges, they got PayPal. This must be to allow buys to communicate with sellers, instantly, in person. I see it as eBay finally realizing how many scammers and other shady deals happen on their site, and are finally addressing the problem.

Outcasts

A few days before Halloween, 19 year-old William Freund, from the Ocean County CA area, killed two people and wounded at least one other. He had poor social skills due to a disorder, "Asperger's syndrome" (do the research), he had. He was picked on at school, in his community, and even on the internet (messageboards, forums, etc..).

Upon reading a few details about the story, some people on at least one particular website messageboard did a doubletake. "19 years old male.. shotgun.. Orange County area.. social outcast/autistic.. Wait a minute.... Holy Shyt!!"

They soon realized that this was the same person who had asked for advice about buying a shotgun. They had also made fun of him, on their messageboard.

Now there'll be the usual flurry of news sites and "experts" stating that "these websites" "are a danger" and will "need to be shut down immediately". And how website operators have a "responsibility to report" when someone posts a threat.

But the truth is, just because you post something doesn't mean you're really going to do it. Out of the hundreds and thousands of things I've read that people have posted online, I've heard of a lot less than 1% about in the news. Many people use the internet as a release for their stress, thoughts, dreams, nightmares, etc..

There's a freedom on the internet because of the anonymity granted by it. You're at home, typing, no one is around you, so you might feel a strength from it.

We, as humans, have almost always pushed away anyone/anything that's different. We don't embrace our differences, we shun them. Make them outcasts. Then after something happens do we say "We should have said/done something."

Now let me go off on a tangent on how/where these outcasts meet...

Many people have anonymous cyber sex in internet chatrooms. Some people fantasize about killing, or even being killed. Lots of people fantasize about being vampires, time travellers, celebrities, or whatever.

This is nothing new, before the internet, there were phone party lines, phone sex numbers, and other anonymous methods via phone lines. And there still are. There has always been writing. People write to relieve stress. They mail things to other people, magazines, celebrities, etc.. There are places people go to meet other people who are interested in the same activities. Vampires go to vampire clubs, Goths go to Goth clubs, people into S&M go to S&M clubs, gay men go to gay clubs, Wiccans (aka "witches") meet up with other Wiccans, etc.. There's nothing stopping people from meeting people with similar interests. Except the "mob" that usually shows up with signs, pitchforks and torches to stop them. Forcing the outcasts to relocate.

A Note

Sorry, to the VERY few of you that have left/might leave a comment. I turned on the "word verfication" for the comment section. I was getting way more "spam comments" than real comments. I'd get comments like "Hey, love your site. I too believe that we need change. By the way, come see my blog about discounts on coffee filters."

"Model" can't find a babysitter (NSFW)

Saw this on another site (friend passed it on to me). What happens when a "model" (term used loosely) can't find a babysitter? Look below, but be careful, these aren't exactly "work safe".

My new favorite song

this is an audio post - click to play

This is my new favorite song.

"Five Turkeys in a Tree"

Five fat turkeys are we.

We slept all night in a tree.

When the cook came around,

We couldn't be found

That's why we're here, you see!

Shhhh, I think he's sleeping.
